Like. A. Glove.

Reebok has this awesome new campaign that I feel lucky to be a part of. Have you seen the killer video??

I am a huge fan, especially since I used to do gymnastics, and one of the USA Olympic gymnasts, Aly Raisman, rocks it in the video. I promise you won’t regret watching!

Beware: Watching this video may cause major motivation.

I was psyched about the shoes as soon as I got them in the mail and made sure to blurt out to my man-fan (new word for boyfriend. Like it? Winking smile) and my brother that the shoes were Z-Rated. I actually had to look that up. But them? They immediately smiled and responded, “like the tire!?” You bet. Sports-car handling for your feet during your run so you can be “unnaturally quick”. Aren’t convinced yet? Their booties lock your feet in, mind you, all while being low-cut. This is exactly what I meant when I said Like. A. Glove. I am a chick who CANNOT wear shoes without socks. Just like I cannot sleep WITH socks. And must have low-cut socks and shoes. Unless they’re knee-high socks. Because when were those ever a bad thing? Winking smile I digress.

Major cozy, speedy feet. I’m a fan. Major fan.

I love that the Z-Quick Run shoes are super light, but still stabilize my feet.

After years of rolling my ankles playing volleyball, gymnastics & soccer, I need a stable shoe. These give me both the light shoe &  quick-ness I want while keeping my feet secure. Love it.

The groves in the sole flex and expand while you run. Bless the people who make shoes using technology. They’re geniuses.

These are technically running shoes but I have also used these for some HIIT workouts and the outstanding handling these shoes have make them very versatile!

And as a an ER nurse…

Doesn’t surprise me … I adore my Reebok clothes & shoes and wear them on the regular. Now I get to add my Reebok ZQuick shoes to the mix!

Best Sports Bra

Posted September 15, 2013 By electrafi

Ready to talk boobies? First I just want to tell you quickly how proud I am of all of you that are killing the workouts I’ve been posting here but mainly on Instagram. I am honored you let me into your lives and homes and gyms and work so hard at these quick and sweaty workouts. Keep rockin’ it, september is just a warm-up. I’ve got some AMAZING stuff in the works for october with tons of goodies for all of you – you’re going to love it!!

I posted a shout-out to a few rockstars who have been giving it their all. I am proud of each and every one of you. Keep doing your best! Open-mouthed smile

—————

Let’s talk about the tatas. Let’s talk about them bouncing. And let’s talk about how it’s so hard to find a sports bra that gives you the right support, no matter what size you are.

Through my years of playing competitive sports and working out, I have tried many-a-sports bra. Heck, my teammates and I in high school used to compare sweat marks on our sports bras to decide how hard we worked that day. I’ve talked about sports bras with many ladies at many different stages of life doing many different workouts. What comes up in every conversation? It’s so hard to find a bra that’s cute AND holds the ladies in. It doesn’t matter if you’re barely an A, somewhere in the middle, or tipping over the D sizes, you HAVE to support the ladies. Working out does SO many good things for your body, your health, and your life. Working out also puts stress on the tatas. And supporting them is MAJORLY essential if you don’t want to have to support them even more as time goes on, if you catch my drift. Winking smile

While I was in Baltimore at Under Armour headquarters, I was lucky enough to meet the lady behind the bras. Holy moly, she is awesome. She’s totally gorgeous, fashionable and gets that us women love cute bras, but she doesn’t care how cute a bra is if it doesn’t function as well. She said our tatas health is her MO. I can get on board with that. She explained that every style bra she makes is made specifically for a type of movement, there is low-impact, mid-impact, and high-impact. She was adamant that low-impact sports bras are ONLY for yoga, pilates and sleeping, no matter how small you think you might be. I’ve been wearing a lot of low-impact style bras for plyos. EEK! That has stopped. She said mid-impact is for lifting, group classes, and high-impact is for running, jumping, plyometrics. We can all guess which levels I should wear – I LOVE my plyometrics. Which level should you be wearing? Even though you know a certain brand has quality bras, that doesn’t mean you know which style, cut, or cup style is best for you (I didn’t!).

That’s where The Sports Bra Quiz comes in.

I took the quiz a couple times, because I wish they had more options for the type of exercise you do (ie: plyos/circuit/cross-training option) – but I found that I fall into a mid-impact or high-impact sports bra, depending on my exercise for the day. Two of my favorite sports bras are the mid-impact that I’m wearing here during my Under Armour Workout:

20130820-1O5A9641-25-(ZF-7652-21092-1-025)

It’s called the HeatGear Sonic Bra – who else loves that bright lime color? The other is the Armour Bra or Armour Protegee Bra. I tried the Armour Protegee bra (which is Miss Kelly O’s favorite bra in the world) for the first time at the headquarters, and to be completely honest with all of you, I saw the bra and was like NO. WAY. Zip up front? For working out? Um. Not a fan. At all. Ick. But fine, I’ll try it. I’ll be a good sport.

Then I wore it to work out in.

Then I decided it’s majorly awesome. And then decided I need not judge a sports bra by its cover. Both the armour bra and the armour protegee bra lift the tatas up, no smashing noted <—thank goodness hm?

Sometimes my ladies get sore after working out if I’ve done a lot of high-impact plyometrics or sprints – anyone else? <—hope I’m not the only one! I put these two high-impact bras through the ringer and back, and my ladies felt like I was taking a walk in the park. Are they the cutest bras in the whole world? No, but they’re classic and THEY WORK. When I’m looking for a little more fashionable workout spunk, I turn down the plyos a touch, and wear my HeatGear Sonic mid-impact that comes in tons of prints and colors.

P.S. I’m always transparent & honest: My friends at Under Armour sent me a bra free of charge. Don’t you worry – all opinions are my own – I have a very firm disclosure policy and I never work with anyone or share anything with you that I don’t believe in 100%. Promise!!

I #LiveWithFire

Posted July 5, 2013 By electrafi

If this isn’t living with fire, I don’t know what is!

Reebok has done it again. I’ve told you how I am a weeeee (ok – opposite of weeee Winking smile) bit in love with my Reebok clothes & shoes.

My gosh – I think the majority of my workout wardrobe is Reebok.

Especially my shoes. Hoard Reebok shoes much? I do! Smile with tongue out

(I have a firm disclosure policy. I received no payment, but Reebok sent me the above clothes & shoes at no cost. Every single opinion in this post is all my own.)

The shoes pictured above are Reebok’s Zig Carbon shoes. I die.

  • First of all – black and pink? Yes. Please.
  • I love carbon fiber on cars. How do I know this? My man is a car, tool, true man’s man and I’ve known about carbon fiber on cars due to its light weight and speed assistance for ages. Did I know it could be put on shoes? Nope. But if it can be done, Reebok will do it! It makes the shoes perfect for speed, flexibility, and they weight almost nothing, but as Reebok says – stand up to anything. The carbon fiber plate in the shoe gives midfoot support which is very important during high impact movements. Similar to many of the other Reebok shoes I have, they’re very flexible and have great shock absorption. The tops are mesh and breathe really well – no stink feet here! Winking smile

The pants are the MOST ASKED ABOUT pants I’ve ever worn. They’re the Reebok PWR Leggings.

  • One of the things I look for in workout clothes is how fun or bright or motivating they are. Let’s face it – if you have more fun or brighter clothes or shoes on, you’re going to smash that workout just a little bit harder, and that little bit just might be the difference maker. Make your clothes and shoes work for you. More motivation never hurt anyone!
  • These leggings are part of the Reebok ONE collection. They say things like “MAKE EVERY REP COUNT,” “BETTER YOUR BEST,” “1 MORE,” “STRENGTH.” C’mon now. Can’t get better than that!
  • As a nurse, I am LOVING that they have an antimicrobial component. HECK YEAH!
  • We all know some spandex pants are made funky. These cause no riding up, no muffin top creation, and no cutting off circulation. Thank the spandex Gods. They’re comfortable and they flatter your body.

The blue top is a the Reebok Yoga Long Bra Top.

  • Going to be totally honest here – didn’t like it the first time I put it on. But, then I took out the boob padding, got my sweat on, and realized how awesome the shirt really is.
  • It has the PlayDry technology so it keeps the top from getting soaked through even if you sweat like a beast like me! It’s a racerback – my personal fav! And super super soft.
  • There’s a bra inside the top which I’m not a huge fan of normally, but it’s not too loose, not too tight. I always wear a regular sports bra, even if there’s an “internal bra” in a shirt. Sometimes that makes it too uncomfortably tight. This one didn’t. Not too loose, not too tight. If you did use it without a regular sports bra, I’m not sure if it’d be supportive enough for the girls with jumping or sprinting, if you know what I mean!

For quite some time, Reebok has been a go-to for me in regards to my Fit Gear.

I’ve done photoshoots … professional video … all in reebok clothes.

I do workouts on the regular in Reebok clothes…

Handstands in Reebok clothes…

You name, I do it in Reebok clothes and shoes. And I love it.

Reebok clothes and shoes are functional and fun – my MO!

Case and point here … Winking smile

Pink Stronger RX Gloves

Posted March 27, 2013 By electrafi

You all know how I’ve been having a tough time finding workout gloves that can handle a beating.

Here was my post from 3 months ago on instagram:

Here’s what I said: “Really?? Again?? Gloves torn to pieces for a third time? Fourth time? Training mean has its consequences for fit gear. On the hunt for a pair of badass gloves that won’t rip on me.”

When I got the awesome opportunity to try out Stronger RX gloves (and who would say no? They’re pink! Winking smile) I crossed my fingers these gloves may be JUST what I’ve been looking for.

And I think I may have been lucky enough that they are. These Stronger RX gloves are to die for, not to mention totally cute in the process. You all wanted me to share when I found some groundbreaking workout gloves. These seem to be them! Yes, they still need to stand the test of time, and you know I’ll be honest and share with you how they’ve held up down the line but to be completely honest, I doubt these will end up like my others. They’re clearly made with intention, intention to hold up to badass workouts, and this my friends, is EXACTLY for what I’ve been scouring the fitness gear world.

You all know I’m brutally honest, so let’s talk about what I’d change on the gloves.

To be completely transparent, there is only ONE thing I would change about the gloves, and that is to have them fingerless. It’s tough to change music on my phone without at least a fingertip showing, and having to take my gloves on and off during my workout to change my music is a hastle that I’d rather not deal with, but if the gloves work, the gloves work. But guess what? Stronger RX must have telepathically known my thoughts. They’re working on fingerless gloves as we speak. I CANNOT wait to try them out!

My other gloves that have clearly not been able to pass the test of time:

20130208_093416

Stronger RX gloves:

20130208_093422

The pads are tough enough while being lightweight enough to allow you to feel the bar through a lift. (VERY important!) The wrist closure helps with support and to keep the gloves in place.

I put these through the wringer, weight lifting, body weight exercises like burpees where your hands see a lot of ground time, toes to bars where the bar rips against the gloves, and so far – so darn good.

20130208_105802

I am psyched about these and believe they’ll hold to the test of time. Only time will tell, but if I had to bet on it, I’d be on the Stronger RX glove side of things.

If you’ve also had a tough time of finding gloves to hold up to your workouts, Stronger RX is offering all of you wonderful people a discount code for free shipping that is good until the end of March, so jump on it! Winking smile
