REM-Fit Sleep Enhancement Review

Posted August 19, 2014 By electrafi

(I have a firm disclosure policy. REM-Fit (connection through FitFluential) sent me this awesome sleep enhancing package at no cost. Every single opinion in this post is all my own.)

We all know that health encompasses a multitude of different things, all pieces of a puzzle fitting together to make the healthiest you.

I have gone through many different “phases” of figuring out WHAT it is that makes me the healthiest me. I’ve come to a pretty darn awesome compilation. Healthy, whole foods, one Shakeology shake a day, sweating at least 4-5 times per week, surrounding myself with positive people and positive things to read to better myself, and doing my best at everything I do have been making me feel amazing. The last piece of that puzzle is REALLY GOOD SLEEP. As a nurse, I hear COUNTLESS times per day how poorly everyone sleeps. Many people seem to have difficulty sleeping, for many different reasons. Sleep is when your brain processes information and makes memories. Sleep is also where your body recuperates and heals. We all know that when we skimp on sleep we feel like crap. We also all know that when we sleep “like a baby,” the world seems to be a little brighter.

Especially for those who like to make sweating a priority on the regular, you need a good sleep to rest up.

This is where REM-Fit comes in. It is specially designed for those who live a healthy & active lifestyle to help rejuvenate them during their sleep. REM-Fit = Rest, Energize and Motivate. How did they know I’d love them oh so much?

We all know I’m a fan of balance. Balancing both exercise and rest is necessary to live a healthy lifestyle. Sleep energizes the body so you CAN sweat the next day, and having a really restful night sleep helps recovery, motivating the athlete or healthy person to really rock their next sweat-sesh.

Some of my FAVORITE qualities about REM-Fit include:

  • The Tencel thermo-regulation – I tend to get hot, and everyone knows being hot while you sleep is a major bummer. Being just a bit chilled with a nice blanket is perfect, so I love that thermo-regulation quality.
  • I also love that it has ANTIBACTERIAL properties. Being the ER nurse I am, that is a MAJOR plus!
  • The mattress cover – Miracle Membrane – keeps up with mattress hygiene, again, a HUGE plus to this ER nurse!

This is what I was graciously sent: REM-Fit Rest Adjustable Pillow, Energize Mattress and Pillow Protectors.

My thoughts after using everything for two weeks:

  • Rest Adjustable Pillow = awesome comfort. Very pleased. Soft enough to mold to what is comfortable, but firm enough not to let your neck droop.
  • Energize Mattress & Pillow Protectors = great peace of mind for hygiene and cleanliness – another aspect of health. This isn’t something you can “feel” but it gives me peace of mind to know I’m sleeping in a clean and healthy environment.

Just one more way I am working to live a passionately balance healthy life from every angle!

My friends over at REM-Fit are providing all of you wonderful readers the code “remfitlife” to save 40% off ANYTHING on their site. FOURTY PERCENT OFF?? Count me in!

Apera Sports Bag Review & Giveaway!

Posted May 9, 2014 By electrafi

Apera’s goal is simple – to inspire all athletes. What is an athlete? There are many definitions. I personally believe Apera strives, just as I do, to inspire all individuals to move, to better themselves. Honored they should contact me, because I have absolutely the same philosophy here! There are many things that motivate us, and I personally think a new workout outfit or a spiffy new gym bag does wonders for motivation! I know ya’ll can tell me when your bag failed you, or how crappy it really is. I was at the dog park hiking with my dog a while back and my backpack strap just snapped. No warning, no more backpack. Talk about fun getting all that back to the car. This bag has been amazing. First off, as an ER nurse, I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. that it’s antimicrobial. That couldn’t make me happier. I’m all about the pink (don’t worry gents, there are manly colors too Winking smile), love the size – large but not in the way, and a million and one pockets. SO nice to keep the gymboss, the HR monitor, the watch, the workout notepad, the phone, the shoes, the outfit, the shakes, the waterbottles … all in different areas. This bag makes me look organized on the go! I’ll take it! AND the bag is waterproof. That covers any spills…dirt…you name it, Apera is on it. {Source:} Apera works to inspire healthy lifestyles. I know we can all appreciate that. They also send a bag to a Special Olympics athlete every 3 bags they sell – so they’re into helping others and giving back too. Another major plus. I am personally LOVING the Performance Duffel, but there are many, many options. There are two ways to enter Apera Giveaways: Sign up for the Apera newsletter and be entered into a drawing to win an Apera Duffle Pack: {Source:} You can also comment below telling me what you want to see more of on my site … recipes, workouts, family/lifestyle, reviews or any other suggestions for a chance to win a Sprint Pack: {Source:} Good Luck!! A winner will be drawn using next Tuesday, May 13th. You can find more from Apera here: Apera FB Page & Apera Twitter. ————— // Subscribe to ElectraFi // Instagram // Twitter // Youtube // Pinterest // // Email Me // // ————— Tell me…

Reebok ZQuick Shoes

Posted February 19, 2014 By electrafi

The following post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Reebok.

(I have a firm disclosure policy. Reebok sent me these killer shoes at no cost. Every single opinion in this post is all my own.)

Like. A. Glove.

2014-02-09 10.15.46

Reebok has this awesome new campaign that I feel lucky to be a part of. Have you seen the killer video??

I am a huge fan, especially since I used to do gymnastics, and one of the USA Olympic gymnasts, Aly Raisman, rocks it in the video. I promise you won’t regret watching!

Beware: Watching this video may cause major motivation.

I was psyched about the shoes as soon as I got them in the mail and made sure to blurt out to my man-fan (new word for boyfriend. Like it? Winking smile) and my brother that the shoes were Z-Rated. I actually had to look that up. But them? They immediately smiled and responded, “like the tire!?” You bet. Sports-car handling for your feet during your run so you can be “unnaturally quick”. Aren’t convinced yet? Their booties lock your feet in, mind you, all while being low-cut. This is exactly what I meant when I said Like. A. Glove. I am a chick who CANNOT wear shoes without socks. Just like I cannot sleep WITH socks. And must have low-cut socks and shoes. Unless they’re knee-high socks. Because when were those ever a bad thing? Winking smile I digress.

Major cozy, speedy feet. I’m a fan. Major fan.

I love that the Z-Quick Run shoes are super light, but still stabilize my feet.

After years of rolling my ankles playing volleyball, gymnastics & soccer, I need a stable shoe. These give me both the light shoe &  quick-ness I want while keeping my feet secure. Love it.

The groves in the sole flex and expand while you run. Bless the people who make shoes using technology. They’re geniuses.

These are technically running shoes but I have also used these for some HIIT workouts and the outstanding handling these shoes have make them very versatile!

And as a an ER nurse…

Doesn’t surprise me … I adore my Reebok clothes & shoes and wear them on the regular. Now I get to add my Reebok ZQuick shoes to the mix!

October Challenge Success & Winners

Posted November 19, 2013 By electrafi

I know I’ve been MIA … I promise I will be back blogging more regularly sooner. I cannot apologize – I have been working very hard at my career, making choices that are authentic to me and for you all (that I can’t wait to share with you), and I have so much to share with you – what I’ve been loving lately (especially some things I won through blog giveaways I can’t wait to share with you, a protein discount code), updates on my career, updates on some choices I’ve made lately, and lots of awesomeness I have planned for all of you. Just wait… :D!

The #Sweatfor5 October Challenge I hosted was a COMPLETE success. I am so incredibly proud of each and every one of you that participated. YOU all inspire ME! You truly took the whole message I was working to send to heart. You knew that I was going to push your limits each and every day, but only for 5 minutes. My goal was to get you to learn that you can fit in those 5 minutes in very creative ways. I had one mom who was fitting it in at her daughter’s extra curricular activities, parents including their children, couples taking 5 minutes to be active together, and individuals who thought they couldn’t try all these new moves completely rocking them and finding that they actually LIKED them! How insanely cool is that!? There’s not much more motivating than someone becoming more confident in themselves, stronger, happier. The random winners were chosen by challenge loop, announced on the challenge page and emailed. I know it sounds cliché, but we all won – we all got sweaty, pushed ourselves out of our comfort zones and had a blast. I’m proud of each and every single one of you!

Here are a couple things challenge participants shared with me that inspired me & made me happy; hopefully they’ll do the same for you! I wanted to share pictures too but if I did this post would be a mile long. Go check out everyone rocking all the exercises and workouts on IG with the hashtag #electrafiarmy & #sweatfor5! I promise it’ll be super motivating and may just make you get up and bust out a quick five minute sweat! Open-mouthed smile

Challenge Participants Thoughts About the Challenge!

  • “I’ve learned that no matter how busy life gets, there’s always time to get out of my comfort zone, challenge myself and learn new things. Even 5 minutes a day makes a difference. Thanks SO much for this challenge, Electra!” –Marcia Kadens
  • “These were totally new to me so thank you! Love learning new moves” –Marcia Kadens
  • “I have learned that you can accomplish a lot in a few minutes. Not just in regards to exercise but also giving yourself that time. We all have so many distractions in our lives and this month has taught me to stop and regroup- even if it’s for 5 minutes. Thank you for this ! I was going to head to box of munchkins outside my office but instead when to an empty room with no windows and did the challenge! Turned up my music and went at it. The perfect fix to get me to the end of this workday. I’m all energized – thanks Electra” –Claudine Muccini
  • “Challenges are so fun because of the variety. This challenge taught me that I can get a great workout in 5 minutes.” –Amy Caine
  • “I definitely feel stronger since staring this challenge. I am new to this and came across the app by chance so this is actually my first challenge ever! Before I started this, I was really struggling with not having enough time to exercise. I have an infant at home, work at least full time, and have a 45min to an hour commute each way. My husband is a teacher and varsity basketball coach so his schedule is crazy too. When I saw this challenge I couldn’t think of anything more perfect for my life right now. I am excited to say I am much better at planking and my legs are feeling stronger too. I look forward everyday to seeing what is next. Thanks ElectraFi for helping me make even just a little bit of time each day to get my heart going!” –Stephanie Ogorek
  • “I like the variety of the challenges and how they add to my daily run. I also enjoy reading about the accomplishments of the other people who are involved in this challenge . Plus, I have to admit that getting the email and finding out what’s in store for us today is exciting.” –Sherri L
  • “Had soo much fun walking on my tip toes! Something so simple can be amazingly affective!” –Laura McManus
  • “I spent today at the hospital. This time last year my husband was diagnosed with leukemia at 29 years old. He went through 3 rounds of chemo, radiation therapy, and a bone marrow transplant in April 2013. Today was his 6 month post transplant bone marrow biopsy, MRI, CT, echo, pulmonary function test, etc. He is likely going to be declared in remission:). While he overcame such a tremendous challenge through this year, today I reflected on how things like these 5 minute challenges ready us for the bigger challenges in life. Thank you Electra for encouraging and building strength/character in all of us!! Every little bit helps!!” –Laura McManus
  • “My husband and I love doing these challenges together…I try and beat him, but never win haha…Thats okay though it makes me work harder!” –Courtney Milewski
  • “Great job to every one rocking the challenge so far. You all seriously keep me accountable, THANK YOU. Happy Sunday :)” –Clare Kessler
  • “I wanted to skip my workout so badly today, but everyone here inspired me to push through it. Great job, everyone!” –Alysia Sena
  • “I wasn’t going to join challenges this month because I don’t want to put too much pressure on myself, but I can’t stay away from Electra’s workouts!” –Axel Kussmann

Here is a compilation of each day, in order from Day 1 to Day 31. I am going to be throwing some of these together into workout mash-ups soon for longer (still not long – probably somewhere between 10 & 30 minutes) workouts that you all can do for fun and strength and variety and all of the above! Feel free to mix and match these, or bust out a 5 minute sweat session on a day you can’t seem to fit in any movement. It’ll change your entire day – I promise!

Muscle Ropes Workout

Posted September 23, 2013 By electrafi

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a nice and relaxing weekend so you’re ready to kick off this week with a bang Muscles Ropes Workout! Winking smile If you’ve been following me on Instagram, you  know that through my relationship with FitFluential, Muscle Ropes sent me the Cyclone Muscle Ropes to enjoy, and enjoying them I am!

As a side note before I get into the nitty gritty about the muscle ropes and share my killer workout with you, I was super impressed by how the rope was coiled up in the box when I received it. As a test, I tried to put it back in the box after using it to see if I could neatly coil it up like they did, and let’s just say it looked like the box shrunk and didn’t fit the rope in it anymore! Those are some talented distributors! They sent me a Cyclone rope, but they have many different ropes (all made in the good ‘ole USA – which is a huge deal for me!), including different size muscle ropes (for all ages and athletic abilities), climbing ropes, giant jumping ropes. I can only imagine jumping rope with a giant rope! Muscle Ropes is a small business that sells almost 30 miles of rope every year. 30 MILES OF ROPE!? More than a marathon of rope every single year! The rope has held up to the workouts I’ve done, and the handles seem to be very high quality, which is huge since many ropes lose their handles quick.

Anyone who has done a high intensity workout knows that 30 seconds – 1 minute isn’t a quick as it seems. This rope takes that to an entirely different level. 20-30 seconds flies by you say? Grab a muscle rope and you might think differently! Winking smile That’s not to say it’s not a blast, because I’ve had fun incorporating this piece of equipment into my workouts. I’m guessing you’ve seen a rope, often called battle ropes, lying around your gym or fitness studio, or being used in a crossfit box or on TV. The Biggest Loser uses muscle ropes, as do many branches of the military. It’s fun to watch someone utilize this piece of equipment, but until you try it, you don’t realize how deceivingly challenging they are. It’s like a pistol squat or some of the interesting core exercises I’ve posted. They don’t look too challenging until you actually do them and FEEL. THE. BURN. right away! It’s fun to incorporate something like this into your workouts every now and again because it challenges you, recruits different muscles, makes you more functional, and brings in variety, which keeps working out and sweating fun!

All of you know I am a total glutton for punishment, and I’ve taken it to an entirely differently level with this exercise above. What could get better than muscle rope burpee slams!?!

Now tell me that doesn’t look like a blast! Sweating and working out can be quick and fun. I am a huge proponent of being able to get a good sweat in almost ANYWHERE. This piece of equipment has been added to my “home gym,” which is mainly all functional workout pieces – I’ll do a post on my favorite at-home workout equipment soon! It’s a great addition to many workouts and can be used pretty much anywhere there is a pole or steak that you can wind the rope around. I am not a proponent of no-option workouts. I do have some gym-specific workouts, but the majority of the workouts I create and share with all of you are workouts that you can pretty much take and do anywhere with just your bodyweight or minimal equipment. Living a healthy, fit, active lifestyle shouldn’t be a chore or something that has to be rigid. It should be fun, and incorporate different ways of getting into shape.

All of that being said, let’s get down to the workout so you can get sweaty and get on with your day! This workout requires a space you can stretch the rope out, and some good ‘ole determination! Open-mouthed smile Make sure you get a really good warm-up in, and make sure to focus on form. With the muscle ropes, form is especially important, and it’s important to make sure you protect your back and joints. Anything high impact can effect your joints and back, and yes – you want to do the exercises quick, but you want to make sure you focus on doing the exercises CORRECTLY first. Form always comes before speed. Keep yourself in good alignment and THEN rock some quick reps out!

Ready to go?!

Muscle Ropes Mash-Up Workout

12 x 30/30

(12 Rounds with 30 second intervals – 30 seconds all out back to back with 30 seconds of rest)

Alternating Waves

Rope Slams

Reverse Lunge Waves

Jumping Slams

Jumping Jack Squats

Burpee Slams

There are 6 exercises, all exercises are to go in order of the circuit with the timer 30 seconds on, 30 seconds rest, and will all be repeated twice. You may think you won’t need 30 seconds of rest, but even after the first exercise, you’ll appreciate the equal rest to exertion!

Explanation of exercises:

  • Alternating waves: Overhand grip. Alternate waves on from each hand, keep back straight, head in neutral position, slightly squatted down with your glutes engaged, weight on your heels.
  • Rope Slams: Overhand grip. Slam ropes down – both hands together, same position as above.
  • Reverse Lunge Waves: Overhand grip. Alternating waves with alternating reverse lunges. Keep good form as stated above, if you have to slow your waves down some that’s ok!
  • Jumping Slams: Overhand grip. Jump squats with a rope slam when landing, same form as above.
  • Jumping Jack Squats: Underhand grip, jumping jacks with ropes coming up while landing in an wide squat, jump back up and into standing position, same form as above.
  • Burpee Slams: Burpee down to your belly, jump up and do a rope slam on your way down landing from the jump up after the burpee, same form as above.

Equipment Used:

Muscle Ropes has more fun workouts for you, and you can ask them any questions on their Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook. I’m always up for questions too, and LOVE hearing from all of you! Jess created her own Muscle Ropes Workout, and Kasey created another Muscle Ropes workout as well. They’re both fun and it’s nice to know you have a lot of places to get inspired, both of those ladies rock! P.S. Even if you don’t have muscle ropes, you can do this workout by modifying it to the simpler exercises without the ropes! Don’t feel left out! Open-mouthed smile

Mondays are always magical, a new beginning. MAKE your monday a wonderful day, smile at someone random, help someone out, get your sweat on! And as always, I love to hear from you!

Best Sports Bra

Posted September 15, 2013 By electrafi

Ready to talk boobies? First I just want to tell you quickly how proud I am of all of you that are killing the workouts I’ve been posting here but mainly on Instagram. I am honored you let me into your lives and homes and gyms and work so hard at these quick and sweaty workouts. Keep rockin’ it, september is just a warm-up. I’ve got some AMAZING stuff in the works for october with tons of goodies for all of you – you’re going to love it!!

I posted a shout-out to a few rockstars who have been giving it their all. I am proud of each and every one of you. Keep doing your best! Open-mouthed smile

Let’s talk about the tatas. Let’s talk about them bouncing. And let’s talk about how it’s so hard to find a sports bra that gives you the right support, no matter what size you are.

Through my years of playing competitive sports and working out, I have tried many-a-sports bra. Heck, my teammates and I in high school used to compare sweat marks on our sports bras to decide how hard we worked that day. I’ve talked about sports bras with many ladies at many different stages of life doing many different workouts. What comes up in every conversation? It’s so hard to find a bra that’s cute AND holds the ladies in. It doesn’t matter if you’re barely an A, somewhere in the middle, or tipping over the D sizes, you HAVE to support the ladies. Working out does SO many good things for your body, your health, and your life. Working out also puts stress on the tatas. And supporting them is MAJORLY essential if you don’t want to have to support them even more as time goes on, if you catch my drift. Winking smile

While I was in Baltimore at Under Armour headquarters, I was lucky enough to meet the lady behind the bras. Holy moly, she is awesome. She’s totally gorgeous, fashionable and gets that us women love cute bras, but she doesn’t care how cute a bra is if it doesn’t function as well. She said our tatas health is her MO. I can get on board with that. She explained that every style bra she makes is made specifically for a type of movement, there is low-impact, mid-impact, and high-impact. She was adamant that low-impact sports bras are ONLY for yoga, pilates and sleeping, no matter how small you think you might be. I’ve been wearing a lot of low-impact style bras for plyos. EEK! That has stopped. She said mid-impact is for lifting, group classes, and high-impact is for running, jumping, plyometrics. We can all guess which levels I should wear – I LOVE my plyometrics. Which level should you be wearing? Even though you know a certain brand has quality bras, that doesn’t mean you know which style, cut, or cup style is best for you (I didn’t!).

That’s where The Sports Bra Quiz comes in.

I took the quiz a couple times, because I wish they had more options for the type of exercise you do (ie: plyos/circuit/cross-training option) – but I found that I fall into a mid-impact or high-impact sports bra, depending on my exercise for the day. Two of my favorite sports bras are the mid-impact that I’m wearing here during my Under Armour Workout:

It’s called the HeatGear Sonic Bra – who else loves that bright lime color? The other is the Armour Bra or Armour Protegee Bra. I tried the Armour Protegee bra (which is Miss Kelly O’s favorite bra in the world) for the first time at the headquarters, and to be completely honest with all of you, I saw the bra and was like NO. WAY. Zip up front? For working out? Um. Not a fan. At all. Ick. But fine, I’ll try it. I’ll be a good sport.

Then I wore it to work out in.

Then I decided it’s majorly awesome. And then decided I need not judge a sports bra by its cover. Both the armour bra and the armour protegee bra lift the tatas up, no smashing noted <—thank goodness hm?

Sometimes my ladies get sore after working out if I’ve done a lot of high-impact plyometrics or sprints – anyone else? <—hope I’m not the only one! I put these two high-impact bras through the ringer and back, and my ladies felt like I was taking a walk in the park. Are they the cutest bras in the whole world? No, but they’re classic and THEY WORK. When I’m looking for a little more fashionable workout spunk, I turn down the plyos a touch, and wear my HeatGear Sonic mid-impact that comes in tons of prints and colors.

P.S. I’m always transparent & honest: My friends at Under Armour sent me a bra free of charge. Don’t you worry – all opinions are my own – I have a very firm disclosure policy and I never work with anyone or share anything with you that I don’t believe in 100%. Promise!!

My friends at Under Armour love all my readers so much that they want to give the chance to win a sports bra OF YOUR CHOICE to one of you! Now that’s what I’m talking about. I know that’ll light a fire under your behinds to go take that quiz – it’s super short – only three clicks!

I #LiveWithFire

Posted July 5, 2013 By electrafi

If this isn’t living with fire, I don’t know what is!

Reebok has done it again. I’ve told you how I am a weeeee (ok – opposite of weeee Winking smile) bit in love with my Reebok clothes & shoes.

My gosh – I think the majority of my workout wardrobe is Reebok.

Especially my shoes. Hoard Reebok shoes much? I do! Smile with tongue out

(I have a firm disclosure policy. I received no payment, but Reebok sent me the above clothes & shoes at no cost. Every single opinion in this post is all my own.)

The shoes pictured above are Reebok’s Zig Carbon shoes. I die.

  • First of all – black and pink? Yes. Please.
  • I love carbon fiber on cars. How do I know this? My man is a car, tool, true man’s man and I’ve known about carbon fiber on cars due to its light weight and speed assistance for ages. Did I know it could be put on shoes? Nope. But if it can be done, Reebok will do it! It makes the shoes perfect for speed, flexibility, and they weight almost nothing, but as Reebok says – stand up to anything. The carbon fiber plate in the shoe gives midfoot support which is very important during high impact movements. Similar to many of the other Reebok shoes I have, they’re very flexible and have great shock absorption. The tops are mesh and breathe really well – no stink feet here! Winking smile

The pants are the MOST ASKED ABOUT pants I’ve ever worn. They’re the Reebok PWR Leggings.

  • One of the things I look for in workout clothes is how fun or bright or motivating they are. Let’s face it – if you have more fun or brighter clothes or shoes on, you’re going to smash that workout just a little bit harder, and that little bit just might be the difference maker. Make your clothes and shoes work for you. More motivation never hurt anyone!
  • These leggings are part of the Reebok ONE collection. They say things like “MAKE EVERY REP COUNT,” “BETTER YOUR BEST,” “1 MORE,” “STRENGTH.” C’mon now. Can’t get better than that!
  • As a nurse, I am LOVING that they have an antimicrobial component. HECK YEAH!
  • We all know some spandex pants are made funky. These cause no riding up, no muffin top creation, and no cutting off circulation. Thank the spandex Gods. They’re comfortable and they flatter your body.

The blue top is a the Reebok Yoga Long Bra Top.

  • Going to be totally honest here – didn’t like it the first time I put it on. But, then I took out the boob padding, got my sweat on, and realized how awesome the shirt really is.
  • It has the PlayDry technology so it keeps the top from getting soaked through even if you sweat like a beast like me! It’s a racerback – my personal fav! And super super soft.
  • There’s a bra inside the top which I’m not a huge fan of normally, but it’s not too loose, not too tight. I always wear a regular sports bra, even if there’s an “internal bra” in a shirt. Sometimes that makes it too uncomfortably tight. This one didn’t. Not too loose, not too tight. If you did use it without a regular sports bra, I’m not sure if it’d be supportive enough for the girls with jumping or sprinting, if you know what I mean!

For quite some time, Reebok has been a go-to for me in regards to my Fit Gear.

I’ve done photoshoots … professional video … all in reebok clothes.

I do workouts on the regular in Reebok clothes…

Handstands in Reebok clothes…

Pink Stronger RX Gloves

Posted March 27, 2013 By electrafi

You all know how I’ve been having a tough time finding workout gloves that can handle a beating.

Here was my post from 3 months ago on instagram:

Here’s what I said: “Really?? Again?? Gloves torn to pieces for a third time? Fourth time? Training mean has its consequences for fit gear. On the hunt for a pair of badass gloves that won’t rip on me.”

When I got the awesome opportunity to try out Stronger RX gloves (and who would say no? They’re pink! Winking smile) I crossed my fingers these gloves may be JUST what I’ve been looking for.

And I think I may have been lucky enough that they are. These Stronger RX gloves are to die for, not to mention totally cute in the process. You all wanted me to share when I found some groundbreaking workout gloves. These seem to be them! Yes, they still need to stand the test of time, and you know I’ll be honest and share with you how they’ve held up down the line but to be completely honest, I doubt these will end up like my others. They’re clearly made with intention, intention to hold up to badass workouts, and this my friends, is EXACTLY for what I’ve been scouring the fitness gear world.

You all know I’m brutally honest, so let’s talk about what I’d change on the gloves.

To be completely transparent, there is only ONE thing I would change about the gloves, and that is to have them fingerless. It’s tough to change music on my phone without at least a fingertip showing, and having to take my gloves on and off during my workout to change my music is a hastle that I’d rather not deal with, but if the gloves work, the gloves work. But guess what? Stronger RX must have telepathically known my thoughts. They’re working on fingerless gloves as we speak. I CANNOT wait to try them out!

My other gloves that have clearly not been able to pass the test of time:

Stronger RX gloves:

The pads are tough enough while being lightweight enough to allow you to feel the bar through a lift. (VERY important!) The wrist closure helps with support and to keep the gloves in place.

I put these through the wringer, weight lifting, body weight exercises like burpees where your hands see a lot of ground time, toes to bars where the bar rips against the gloves, and so far – so darn good.

I am psyched about these and believe they’ll hold to the test of time. Only time will tell, but if I had to bet on it, I’d be on the Stronger RX glove side of things.

If you’ve also had a tough time of finding gloves to hold up to your workouts, Stronger RX is offering all of you wonderful people a discount code for free shipping that is good until the end of March, so jump on it! Winking smile

Reebok Sky DMX

AMAZING Performance? Check!
Stability? Check!

You name it – these shoes are IT!

(Funny because the morning I got these in the mail, I was wearing this shirt and bra to go to the gym in. Can you say fate? Colors. Match. – FYI this bra is Reebok too. LOVE. IT!)

The new Reebok Sky DMX have to be my favorite Reebok (or for that matter – any brand) of workout shoes yet! You all know how much I LOVE Reebok…

and wear my Hulk Nanos all. day. every. leg. day.

(Christina & I at Reebok Crossfit One Fifth Ave in NYC!)

Now I have just one more reason to love Reebok and their shoes. It’s a Reebok Sky DMX Love affair – don’t tell my big man! Winking smile

These shoes feel “ridiculous” as they’re described – so insanely comfortable, but they work. I have found most really comfy workout shoes are just that. Comfy. Perfomance though is usually nil. Not with these. Reebok has found the perfect mix of comfortable and high performance. The air cushions your feet, and one of my absolute favorite things about these shoes is that the air moves forward and back, but does NOT move laterally (side to side). This keeps the shoes supportive and increases shoe stability, while still allowing for the “shock” system and support. They’re also breathable – featuring mesh on the top so your feet don’t get too stinky! Smile with tongue out

The only thing I won’t use these for is leg day. I prefer a flat shoe with hardly any cushion to enable me to feel myself pushing through my heels (or not). Other than that, these are my new go-to shoes – plyos, weight lifting, sprints, cardio days – all of the above and much much more. I don’t run much anymore but I did a couple sprints and these things will cushion your joints, so runners, you’d love these too. That’s another thing I’m in awe with – they created shoes that not only meet weight lifters requirements, but sprinters, and runners, and group class-goers and the list goes on and on.

Can you tell I’m a MAJOR fan of these shoes? Reebok gets a thumbs up from me! You’ll be seeing these in my pictures very. often. Maybe I’ll have to buy another pair in different colors so you don’t get sick of seeing these! They have pink and black and blue and they’re all fun like these.

I think these are the next ones I want:

Killer color palate hm?

The Reebok Sky DMX shoes are officially on my must have, must buy more soon list. You too? Open-mouthed smile

With No Further Adieu, Here’s Firmoo!

Posted January 25, 2013 By electrafi

When I posted the picture of my glasses, I got so many comments on my glasses, many asking where you could get some like it.

In that case with no further adieu…

Let me introduce you to Firmoo!

(Poet and I didn’t even know it? Winking smile)

One of my favorite Fitness Models and Fitness influencers of all time is Jamie Eason. We all know of Jamie, she’s always willing to share her newest and best tips, tricks and finds regardless of if they’re fitness related or not. She ended up going to the eye doctor and needed glasses, but not wanting to spend the $300-$800 they charge, she looked online. She was able to get THE CUTEST glasses online for cheap. What??

Ok. No more paying an arm and a leg (we all work too hard on our muscles to give up our arms and legs, don’t we? Smile with tongue out) at the eye doctor. I want in.

And then something awesome happened. Firmoo contacted me. Who’s Firmoo you ask?? Only one of the greatest websites and company of people I’ve come across in a long. long. time. I can get a free pair of glasses as the first pair they send you? If I really wanted to, I could get 8 pairs of glasses for the price I was paying for one? And I can virtually try them on? Yes. Please.

I ripped open the package as soon as it was shipped to me and how cute is their packaging and glasses cleaning cloth? Love. The. Pink!

I virtually tried on a bunch of pairs and decided to go with something fun and bold. Apparently the virtual try on really works if my in person try on is any indication!

How can a company offer free glasses and not go bankrupt? I thought the same thing. First thought? “Hmm…curious…” First thought after I put on the lovely glasses they sent me? “I get it. Now I get it.” I will be scouring their website over the next day or two and deciding what my next pair will be. Maybe I’ll even put up a video about my second pair. Can you tell I’m in awe? Free first pair of killer glasses? What’s the risk? There is none. They just know you’ll love the glasses as much as I did. Score!

Just because I rock it at the gym and can be a rough and tumble chick doesn’t mean I don’t love looking cute and having different looks to choose from. Who knew glasses could add so much to an outfit or look? Firmoo will DEFINITELY be my go-to for glasses from now on – accessories with a purpose. I’m a fan! Open-mouthed smile

I have an AMAZING. AMAZING. video to share with you soon. Christina and I might just be part of a campaign, and our stories may have been a little suspect last October. I know you want all the details and I’ll be sharing asap!
